HCG & Exercise

HCG is a hormone secreted by the body during pregnancy. Abbreviation for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, HCG is found in both men and women. During pregnancy, this hormone is produced in excess and controls the metabolism of the woman. Once the placenta is formed, the hormone is then produced by the placenta through the course of the pregnancy. HCG diet involves taking these hormones synthetically in the form of oral medication or injections to trigger metabolism. This hormone is used in small portions as part of this diet strategy.

HCG Diet

  • In relation to the hormone secretion levels during pregnancy, this diet uses a very small portion of this hormone for triggering metabolism. As a result it is recommended for both men and women and is said to be safe.
The important aspect of making the HCG diet work is a very low calorie diet of 500 calories. With the HCG shot, the hypothalamus is triggered to mobilize the fat and release that for energy. As a result the body burns stored fat losing up to 1-2 lbs of stored fat every day.

HCG and Exercise

  • With many weight loss plans, diet and exercise go hand in hand. However in traditional HCG Diet, exercise is discouraged. It is suggested that this will negatively impact the stamina of the individual on a 500 calorie diet .
Intense workout is not recommended as this will reduce the effects of the HCG. The body when it burns more calories already on a low calorie diet goes into starvation mode. As a result the body starts storing fat instead of burning it. The mixed signals sent to the body will reduce the effectiveness of the HCG Diet. Intense exercise while on a HCG Diet can be very dangerous and the risk of the individual passing out or becoming dehydrated rapidly is very high.
During the diet, walking is considered to be the most suitable exercise if it is for shortened duration of about 20 minutes or 1 to 2 miles. However caution needs to be exercised while walking and care needs to be taken that the intensity is not increased to even jog. Remember, it is very important to stay hydrated and monitor heart rate during the workout.
Another recommendation is to practice Yoga with the diet. This will help increase strength and flexibility. Also a focused mind invokes renewed dedication to the diet. Yoga also helps build lean muscle and simultaneously HCG helps lose fact. So Yoga, is in fact recommended to complement HCG Diet.
Even though exercise is restricted, HCG Diet is motivating to those that stick to it and lose weight as a result. At the end of the diet period, with better weight loss results, and renewed energy, the motivation to exercise is higher, and with elevated energy levels, the results are far more effective.
