How to Know What Foods Cause Belly Fat

While it's important to eat foods that fight belly fat like avocados, whole grain breads, vegetables and fruits, it's also important to avoid the foods that first created your expanding stomach in the first place. Limit or eliminate the following foods from your diet to shrink your belly fat and get your figure back.

Tips For YouFried Foods

Avoid fried foods if you're trying to lose belly fat. Fried foods are saturated with empty calories and fat. Fried foods include fried chicken, French fries, and corn dogs.

White Refined Sugar

Keep white refined sugar intake down to a minimum, or eliminate it completely from your diet if you are overly concerned about belly fat. Foods that contain white sugar are candy, cereal and cakes.

White Flour Foods

Limit breads, pasta, and other white flour foods in your diet. White flour turns into sugar and eventually ends up as fat somewhere on your body. Much of this fat will end up in the stomach area. White flour foods include white bread, waffles, pizza and pasta.

Saturated Fat

Decrease saturated fats to less than 10 percent of your diet. Foods high in saturated fat include cream, butter, ice-cream and red meat.
Food High in Sodium
Check food packages for sodium content. The average woman only needs about 500 milligrams per day.

Alcohol

Avoid drinking to reduce belly fat. Alcohol is dense in calories. It turns into sugar once digested, and excess sugar ends up as fat, which usually makes its way to the stomach area.
