How to Lose Subcutaneous Belly Fat
Subcutaneous fat is stored close to the surface of the skin, over the abdominal muscles. In the belly area, this excess fat can appear to wobble when you jump up and down. You can lose subcutaneous belly fat by doing certain exercises at least three times a week. It is also important to maintain a healthy diet, to see a noticeable difference in your stomach area within 3 to 4 weeks. Losing weight from the stomach area will also reduce the risk of a number of health problems including diabetes, heart disease and cancer.
Tips For You
- Practice cardiovascular based exercises such as jogging and cycling to effectively burn stomach fat. Use interval training by working as hard as you can for 8 seconds and then relaxing for 12 seconds before repeating. Do not stop exercising during the relax time, but reduce speed and move at a more relaxed pace to allow the heart rate to lower. Each cardiovascular session should last at least half an hour. Try to keep challenging yourself by exercising for longer periods as your overall fitness improves.
- Practice resistance exercises such as leg raises and cycling exercise to improve definition of the abdominal muscles and to tone a wobbly stomach. Perform a leg raise by lying with your back flat on the floor with your legs stretched out. Lift your legs upwards until they are at a 90 degree angle from the body. Lower back to the starting position and repeat. Begin with five repetitions and increase as strength and fitness improve. Remain lying down to perform the cycling exercise by lifting the legs up off the ground and moving them in alternate circling motions as if you were riding a bike. Move slowly and count 20 revolutions to begin.
- Maintain a diet that is high in fiber. This includes fruits, such as apples, bananas and oranges, vegetables, such as broccoli, carrots, peppers and mushrooms; as well as whole grain rice, pasta and cereal. Incorporate fish and lean meat into your diet. The protein in these foods will give you the energy you need to exercise regularly. Avoid fast food and replace carbonated drinks with water and tea. Drinking green tea will also aid in boosting your metabolism, which means your body will burn fat at a quicker rate.
