How To Lose Weight with Dandelion

Most people see dandelion as an ordinary weed. However, herbalists respect that weed throughout centuries. Dandelion is widely known as an effective liver cure and it is recently discovered as a weight loss remedy. Dandelions also give a rich supply of vitamin A, vitamin B complex, vitamin C, and vitamin D. It is also a rich source of minerals like potassium, zinc and iron. Dandelion roots are usually used. But fresh leaves can also be used as salad ingredients. Below are ideas on how to lose weight with dandelion.
Dandelion leaves as coffee and tea. These are the easiest ways to use dandelion as a weight loss therapy. Almost everyone drinks coffee or tea everyday. You can prepare a liter of coffee or a pot of tea that you can drink for an entire day.
  • Dandelion roots as coffee. Use grounded dandelion roots as your coffee substitute. Thoroughly clean the roots then blend them in a mixer. Intersperse the blended roots on top of a baking sheet. Then, roast the roots in an oven for two hours at 250 degrees Fahrenheit. When cool, re-blend the roasted roots in a blender or a coffee grinder so they will be powdered. Now, you have a healthier coffee substitute.
  • Dandelion leaves as tea. Select the tenderest and the freshest leaves so you can get the most flavorful dandelion tea. Wash the fresh dandelion leaves to remove dust and dirt. Store the clean leaves inside a plastic bag with holes so air will keep the leaves humid and cold. Use them the soonest time before they thoroughly dried up.
To make a teapot for one person, boil a cup of water and 1 teaspoon of dried dandelion leaves together. Add another dried dandelion teaspoon in boiling water. Cover and simmer for 3 three minutes. Mix and steep the tea for another minute. You can serve it with honey, mint, orange, or lemon.
Serve the tea three times a day; it is the recommended dosage. Besides weight loss, dandelion can also give you relief from heartburn, PMS, and cramps.
  • Dandelion as part of your everyday diet. Raw dandelion leaves will make your sandwiches and salads more delicious. They can be cooked and added to your menu or serve them as substitute to cabbage or spinach.
Cook the dandelion leaves in water and add a little salt if you will add them to dishes like stews, soups, stir fries, or pasta. You can eat the greens as a side meal. Add onion, pepper, garlic or other seasonings and herbs for flavor.
If you’re still in a transition in lessening your meat consumption, then add boiled dandelion leaves in your fatty meats to avoid indigestion. Add the leaves while you’re simmering or frying meat.
