How Drinking Water Will Help You Lose Stomach Fat

So when it comes to losing stomach fat there’s only one drink that should be in your arsenal. That drink is water. Sure you have heard how healthy water is but did you know that not drinking enough water will actually increase your stomach fat? Let’s see how water will help us keep the pounds off our belly.

One thing water does for us is keep us feeling full. Sometimes when we think we’re hungry we’re really just thirsty. Water also transports necessary nutrients to your muscles, it’s used to help digest food, and it keeps your metabolism revving. Lack of water means a slower metabolism which leads to packing on fat right around your stomach. Since water makes you feel more full, drinking some water before having a meal has been shown to help you consume less calories than without a glass of water.

Drinking eight glasses a day has been recommended for a very long time. Personally I like to aim for a gallon of water a day. You can find a happy medium in between 8 glasses a day or one gallon. If you’re having trouble downing water at all a nice way to give it some flavor is with a lime or lemon. Stay away from artificial sweeteners to give waters a better taste.

Lots of calories come from drinks or sodas so switching those to water is a simple way to cut your calorie intake. If you switch out your soda‘s and juices for just water the results will speak for themselves. It’s that simple.

How to Get in the Habit of Drinking Water When You Hate It

You already know you need to drink more water, but doing it can be a task, especially if you don't find it appealing. Keep in mind that when you’re properly hydrated, you’ll have more energy and probably won’t feel as hungry all the time. Drinking water doesn’t have to be a chore; just make it a habit and keep water handy at all times.

Things You'll Need

  • Bottled water or reusable water bottles
  • Orange, lemon or lime slices
  • Fresh berries

Tips For You

  1. Drink a glass of water before taking a bite at every meal. Not only will that glassful help hydrate you, you’ll probably eat less food. At the 240th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in 2010, researchers reported that people who drank two 8-ounce glasses of water before eating consumed 75 to 90 fewer calories at that meal. Research participants who drank before eating lost an average of 5 pounds more than those who didn’t drink water beforehand.
  2. Take water everywhere you go. Always have a bottle in the cup holder in your car, a bottle on your desk at work and one at hand when you’re relaxing on the couch at home. If it’s there, staring you in the face, you’ll be more likely to grab the water and take a sip instead of getting up to find something else to drink.
  3. Flavor your water ahead of time. If you truly dislike the taste or texture of water, pop a few slices of orange, lemon or lime into your water bottles the night before. Fresh berries are equally delicious. After a night of chilling in the refrigerator, you’ll have a tasty, satisfying, virtually calorie-free beverage to keep you hydrated. Just don’t forget to grab your bottles before heading out the door.
  4. Swap still water for sparkling water. If you normally drink soda, try bubbly water instead. You’ll still get the water you need without added calories, caffeine or sweeteners. Some types of sparkling water are sold in flavors or you can add fresh fruit to create a natural flavor combo.

How to Lose Weight Fast by Drinking Water

If you are looking to lose weight quickly by drinking water, there are tips available to help you do it properly and effectively. Consistent water intake is critical in weight loss because a high volume of water present in your cells allows them to push out fat and toxins stored within them. Learn what kind of water is best to help you lose weight and what kind of diet you should have to support your goals. It's not difficult, but it does require resolution on your part to do it.

Things You'll Need

  • Steam distilled water
  • Fresh fruits and vegetables

Tips For You

  1. The most important part of this process is, of course, having plenty of water and the right kind of water available. Some of the best water you can possibly drink is steam distilled. This has shown to have many more benefits than tap, mineral, fluoridated or spring water. The logic is simple. Water sources other than steam distilled are treated to kill impurities, then substances like chlorine, carbon and aluminum sulfate are added to adjust pH levels or to eliminate cloudiness. All of these factors further bog down your body's cells rather than help them function properly. Steam distilled water is different. In the distillation process, water is boiled and the steam created is trapped into a condenser. The condensed steam is the water you drink. The contaminants are left behind in the water that was boiled.
  2. You've heard that you should drink 8 to 10 8-oz. glasses of water per day. The better rule is to drink your body weight in ounces. If you weigh 120 pounds, drink 120 ounces per day. You notice that amount is almost double the standard of 8 to 10 glasses. The first few days, your body will notice the difference. You'll be going to the bathroom more, but eating less. Processing that much water keeps your stomach and cells occupied and you're not as hungry.
  3. Make your eating habits "goal-friendly." If you consume lots of high-fat, processed or fried foods, you will definitely slow the weight loss process down. Your digestive system has to work very hard to break down these types of foods. Eat at least two raw meals/snacks a day. The live enzymes in raw food are used to break the food down on its own, without calling on your stomach's enzymes for assistance. One raw meal or snack could simply be an apple. Your second raw meal could be a salad. Then you've accomplished your daily goal. Plus, there's water in raw fruits and vegetables, so that's a bonus.
  4. Keep up this pace for two weeks. Eat as much food as you like--just try to keep your diet balanced. The focus here is on the water. If you are consistent in your water intake, you will notice that your elimination will improve, you will be less bloated and you should lose at least 5 lb.
  5. Let this behavior start a new lifetime habit. Keep steam distilled water with you wherever you go: the car, office, gym or home. You will keep excess weight off and feel great.
