Losing weight does not always have to be a daunting task. Just as exercising in general can be fitted into your day to day activities, so can weight loss. One of the easiest ways to combine entertainment and recreation with weight loss is through dancing.  If you have friends who are professional dancers, one of the first things you will notice is that they have beautiful bodies. This is not just a prerequisite for being a dancer. Instead, it is actually the result of dancing itself. Here are ways to dance your flab away.
  1. Belly dancing. From Beyonce to Shakira, belly dancing has grown in popularity. This type of dance, however, is not only sexy and enchanting but is also a very good way to lose weight. Belly dancing is a lot more complicated than most people think. To get the abdominal muscles to move in the fluid motions needed in belly dancing, many muscles in the lower body, hips, and back need to move and exert effort. Even the thighs need to exert effort in order to successfully engage in belly dancing. Because of this, plenty of calories are burned along the way. If your stomach, hips, and thighs are the problem areas, belly dancing is also one of the best alternatives to doing crunches, squats, and sit ups.
  2. Tae Bo. Tae Bo is an exercise program that combines both basic military exercises with dance and music. Because of this, the Tae Bo has gained a massive following around the country and in many other areas around the globe. Today, there are hundreds of Tae Bo instructional videos which you will only need to plug into the DVD player. Play the discs and follow the steps while moving to the rhythm. Some Tae Bo moves are more advanced than others, and may even require light weight devices. Tae Bo is also created as holistic fitness exercise, which means that it can be used by beginners in weight loss to those who have already lost weight and are working on defining the muscles in their body.
  3. Cheer dance. Even in your own living room, there is someone who could use a bit of cheer, especially while losing weight. Cheer dance is a fun way to move and dance to lose weight. Even better, the moves are very strenuous and are great for quick calorie removal. While complex moves in cheer dancing can only be done by squads, there are plenty of other moves that you can do all by yourself. The beats used in cheer leading dances are also very infectious and can be a great way to start off the day.  You can also improve some of the steps by adding in other equipment such as a health ball that can make the moves much more difficult – even if you are dancing by yourself.
Whatever dance you choose to improve your body and lose weight, keep in mind that you should complement the dance exercise program with proper nutrition and diet. With these in mind, getting fit enough to wear the belly dancer’s costume or the cheer leader’s mini skirt can be done, all while having fun.
