How to Jump-Start the Atkins Diet

If you are serious about your weight loss and want to jump-start your dedication to the Atkins diet by seeing some serious results in two weeks, then you must take part in the Induction phase of the diet. The Induction phase readies your body for the best possible results on the Atkins diet and can give you the extra resolve you need to stick with it.

Tips For You

  1. Begin eating five or six small meals per day, instead of three large meals. Never go six hours without eating if you are awake--you must keep your metabolism stoked high so that it is continually burning calories.
  2. Restrict yourself from eating more than 20 g of carbohydrates each day, and get those carbohydrates from fruits and vegetables rather than bread products. Always check the carbohydrate count before you eat.
  3. Avoid foods and drinks that contain aspartame as the chief sweetening ingredient. Instead, choose packets of sucralose to sweeten foods and drinks. One packet is equal to one gram of carbohydrates.
  4. Choose plenty of lean proteins and healthy fats to make up the bulk of your meals. You can choose foods like boneless, skinless chicken breast, grilled fish and vegetables, nuts, beans, and legumes.
  5. Drink at least eight glasses of water a day to flush out the fat byproducts that you lose during the two-week, jump-start Induction phase. After your two-week Induction, you can relax the rules and begin on the next phase of the Atkins diet.
