Do You Know The Benefits Of Kefir?

As a person who understands the benefits the Hay Diet has on the digestive system I found it difficult to ignore the apparent amazing effects which kefir has to offer.

It is clear that commercial kefir does not come close to the benefits the home-made variety has to offer as commercial Kefir is made from either a freeze dried powdered form of the culture which means it has considerably less healing power.

On the other hand homemade kefir contains billions of friendly organisms per millilitre, and the organisms are reproducing right up until the kefir is consumed along with ample amounts of kefiran and variations of the polysaccharide.

Kefir benefits from an abundance of tryptophan which is one of the essential amino acids and is, well-known for its relaxing effect on the nervous system. Therefore kefir has a particularly calming effect on the nerves. Rich in the B Vitamins: Kefir is an excellent source of Vitamin B7 (biotin), which aids the body's absorption of other B vitamins, B1 (Thiamine), B2 (riboflavin) B3 (niacin), B6 (Pyridoxal phosphate), B9 (folic acid), and B12 (cobalamin).

As an experiement the bacteria E. Coli was injected into Kefir. Within 24 hours the E. Coli was destroyed by Kefir whey's beneficial bacteria. Kefir has also demonstrated the ability to kill H. pylori infections when bacteria alone could not. In addition, the complex micro flora of Kefir has also shown a keen ability to greatly stimulate our immune system, ward off infections. This is because when Kefir is consumed as a drink, it creates a healthy mucous lining in the colon, which acts as a good medium to support the growth of beneficial bowel flora which helps to prevent parasitic infections and cancer as well as constipation. This means Kefir is beneficial in preventing many gastrointestinal disorders.

A Colon Cleanse - What Is It?

There are different types of colon cleanses. Various forms of the same use oxygen, therapeutic clay, fiber, diet, and herbs. The first type mentioned, oxygen, helps dissolve matter that is stuck in the colon. It helps loosen it and eliminate it. Another type of cleanse uses bentonite clay, a type of therapeutic clay, which absorbs toxins, but also may absorb certain medications. A third type of cleanse uses fiber products which can be mixed with juice and swallowed. Fiber increases bulk and becomes an internal broom, sweeping the intestines. Also, fiber can help feed beneficial bacteria in the colon. Sometimes full or partial juice fasts are used. The reasoning is that the energy normally used in digestion now goes to helping cleanse the system. However, sudden changes can be hard on the system, and it is wise to talk to a professional about this.

People may start thinking about colon cleanses when they experience constipation. Constipation is a frequent problem in today's culture because of all the processed food. Processed food does not have the fiber that natural fruits, vegetables, and whole grains have. Because of this, there is not enough intestinal fiber to sweep the intestines clean. People then turn to stimulants designed to increase peristalsis, which is the contraction and movement of the intestinal tract. However, continued use of stimulants can result in dependence upon them as well as electrolyte depletion. Therefore, a better to approach colon health is with a diet that includes fiber, and also with colon cleansing supplements that do not deplete and weaken the intestines.

Lack of colon cleansing can provide accumulations which become homes to parasites or bad intestinal flora. It is believed that colon cleanses can help with constipation, and also reduce the chances of colon cancer, due to the fact the intestine is keep cleaner. Signs a cleanse may be needed are constipation, headaches, loss of appetite, and fatigue. A colon cleanse helps clean the intestines of toxins which are behind these negative feelings.

There are disputes between the holistic community and the medical community regarding colon cleanses. As with all things, a careful examination of the language being used and whether a comparison of apples with oranges being done is needed. Any concerns should be directed to your health professional. It helps if the health professional is educated in the fields of nutrition and holistic health. The popular support to colon cleanses by those who have experienced them indicate that on a popular and personal level, people enjoy the sense of internal cleanness and lightness they experience.

Finally, an important part of any colon cleans is to drink lots of water. As the toxins leave the body in urine and feces, the body needs more water to replenish the liquid lost. Good, clean water is important during a colon cleanse.

The Wonders of A Detox Bath

Whenever you think of the detox process, you're probably looking at it from an internal perspective... one where you give your organs a boost by clearing out toxins and feeding yourself plenty of much-needed vitamins and minerals.

But you shouldn't forget about your largest organ - your skin. It's one you have to nurture from both an internal and external perspective, and a detox bath can help you detoxify your body in a way that nutrition can't.

So Consider Trying A Detox Bath Using...

Essential Oils. The use of essential oils work wonders in your bath. If you're feeling drained of energy, but still need to cook dinner, spend time with your family, and maybe get something else done, then you can use peppermint oils in your bath.

If the opposite is true and you want to drift off to sleep soon, try lavender, or other oils that create a soothing environment, as opposed to those that energize you more throughout the day.

Apple Cider Vinegar. If your body is suffering from inflammation, you might want to try a detox bath with apple cider vinegar. This is great if yeast is an issue in your life. This, as well as Epsom salts, can help ease the painful swelling in your body.

Sea Salt. Sea salt and baking soda is great for those who have a lot of exposure to environmental toxins. It's a detox bath that will help induce sleep, too, so do it when you want a relaxing bath in the evening.

Three Quick Tips...

  • Keep in mind that many people who take these types of baths make sure to use a chlorine filter whenever they take one for the purpose of improved health.
  • Depending on the kind of detoxification bath you use, you probably want the water as hot as you can comfortably stand it, to open up the pores and allow the toxins out, while letting the minerals in.
  • Every bath should end with the replenishment of water to your system. Some people like to drink water while in the bath, while others prefer to wait until the detox bath has been completed.

Clear Out Toxins. Pamper Your Skin. Stress Less.

In addition to toxins that can accumulate in your system, stress hormones wreak havoc on your body and mind. A good detox bath is definitely one way to rid stress from your life. So treat yourself to a relaxing bath that can help restore skin health and bring much-needed peace and calm to your day.

The Best Diet Option and Detoxification

It's been estimated that more than 60 percent of adults and one in four children in most western countries are overweight or obese. Only diet is the preventable cause of death and disease. In today's fast and furious times, one is too bothered about work and other pressures. Thus, people are increasingly depending on fast food which can satiate their hunger only for a short time. However, from time to time, one needs to get their bodies cleansed and rinsed from germs and toxins. Therefore, people end up opting for detoxification. The whole process of body detoxification is one that includes removal of body wastes, cleansing the body from germs and insuring that most of the health problems are overcome. Body detoxification requires some changes which most of it relates to the right diet, although many people think this involves going without food and just living on juices and water for days or weeks. So, let's have a look at a detox diet to get some ideas and basics without starvation.

It's all about the Benefits

Every detox diet requires ingredients that are important and therefore included for their benefits. The components are necessary in helping to cleanse and detox the body thoroughly from all aspects. Generally, a detox diet is one that also helps in achieving goals like weight loss or even helping your ruined digestion to recover naturally. Thus, you need to consider what ingredients are most suitable in a good diet for detoxification. Let's have a look at some of the best medicinal and natural substances that make a good detox diet. Some of the substances included in this type of regimen are substances that are naturally found in nature. For instance, the lemon detox diet plan includes things like lemonade, cayenne pepper, maple syrup and other such tasty things. These ingredients are substances used in cleansing and detoxifying the body. Another detox plan includes things like juices, vegetables and at the same time avoiding most processed foods. When using any juices, these are better made from fresh fruits and vegetables avoiding any sugars and preservatives. The fresh fruits would help in cleansing the body from germs and other toxins. Some natural liquid supplements that include different fruits will also be of benefit for this detox.

Raw food diet plan

This is yet another plan about consuming raw foods like raw meat and fish. Raw meat is something that has all the essential vitamins and nutrients in good doses. The meat is best being cooked at a temperature of 118 degrees Celsius. The meat, if cooked raw, will be better than processing it chemically. Also, vegetables in this type of dietary plan can as well be taken raw and fresh. The vegetables and fruits, if raw, will contain a lot of nutritional and health value. Thus, this will be handy for detoxifying and cleansing the body. It is most essential to include vegetables in a detox diet because of the rich properties such as sulforaphane, vitamin E and C which been known for its antioxidant properties. Another reason to include lots of vegetables is to combat free radicals. This will help the body in getting rid of free radicals especially those produced in excess and in the long run the body is able to combat against them and illness.

How can you follow a diet plan?

The part about cutting out things such as processed foods, sodas or any type of soft drinks, sport drinks or even health drinks, as well fruit juices unless they are natural and contain no sugars or preservatives. Most people are not aware that the many artificial sweeteners trick your body into gaining weight and store fats. It is best to try to avoid them as much as possible and use instead the sugar alcohols or Stevia, which is a natural herbal extract and tastes just like natural sugar. By avoiding these types of foods you will avoid lots of sugar intake, which is a very important part in any diet plan. The choice of a detox diet will depend on the type of problem you want to solve. You also can make your diet that will help your digestive health, immunity, stamina, strength, skin health etc. Your whole body will benefit when you add nutrient-rich food to your diet. At that moment you start replacing some of the wrong foods with good ones is the first step of systematically detoxifying your body. When the first signs of changes in your body become noticeable than you know you are on the way to better health.

Body Cleansing Detoxification

This purpose of this alternative medical technique is to rid your body of toxins. The theory behind this is that toxins accumulate in your body from things such as overly processed food and pollution. Ones that support this treatment claims that by using body cleansing detoxification on your body is like what an oil change is to your car. The scientific community does not generally support body detoxification even though there are many testimonies that can be found by satisfied people who have detoxed their body. It is also not supported by mainstream medicine because your body will naturally detoxify itself using your liver and kidneys. Any other toxins have not been proven to cause harm or exist.

The supporters of detoxification believe that this toxic build-up is the primary cause of many common medical symptoms such as gas, constipation, and irritable bowel syndrome. Other medical conditions such as skin problems, mood swings, and fatigue has also been reportedly helped or cured by body cleansing detoxification. Some even feel that cancer may come from the toxins that are left in your body for months, even years.

The origin of this type of detoxification began in Greece and Egypt. They believed that when you ingested food it became trapped in certain parts of their body. The trapped food then began to rot and become toxic.

There is a variety of detoxification methods that a person can use. Some are directed toward a specific organ such as the liver cleanse or colon cleanse. Others are aimed at ridding your body of specific toxins like a mercury detox or heavy metal detox. There are many products available that require assistance from a trained physician or you can do at home. In order to prevent any complications a body cleanse detoxification procedure should be supervised by a consultation with your physician.

There is a detoxification diet that you can do at home and two of the more common types are the elimination and fasting diet. The theory behind these detoxification diets is that your body will be forced to burn any excess fat, which is a popular storage space for any toxins. Once all the excessive fat is burned these toxins will be released into your blood stream. They will then go out of your body via the lungs, colon, or bladder.

When doing a colon cleansing you can have it done at your physician's office or at home. The type of body cleanse detoxification that is said to detoxify your liver and kidneys along with the colon is an enema. You can also detoxify your colon by using herbal supplements. These herbal supplements are supposed to scrape your intestinal lining clean of any fecal matter that has built up.

Detoxification: What You Need to Know to Choose the Right One

Detoxifying the body has become most popular over recent years. With the idea of purifying the body for the benefit of health has taken on a new urgency with our lifestyle of today. There is a long list of all the different ideas, types and hypes of detoxification. Some are justifiable and some are not, this is where little knowledge becomes dangerous.

A detox where you starve and drink liters of fluid for a short-term cleans is not always the best nor a great idea. The healthy way to detox is not about flushing the toxins out of your system all at once. It is better to optimize such function of your body's own detoxification system on daily basis. The awareness of increasing chemicals and toxins in the air we breathe, the soil our food is grown in, or the water we drink is reality and unfortunately, there is no escaping from it. Eating wrong foods over a long time, this means the need for a detoxification, this does not mean everyone has to go through a detoxification; it all depends on certain circumstances.

This becomes than the question: What type of detox do I need? There is no formula for this, or a "ONE" size fits all strategy. It's a matter of circumstances what suits you best and what feels right for you. What is the reason for a detox? Health, what type of health? To lose weight, or many other issues? The wrong food is the biggest contributor to our bad health today. The first issue to take into account before any detoxification should take place is change of diet.

Choices of Food

Going on chunk food binges and loading up on too much sugary food is a certainty to build up harmful toxins in your body. Obviously, nobody would want to have poisons inside them. To rid your system of these unwanted substances you must let go of unhealthy eating habits and start an exercise discipline to control your cravings. In addition to mental conditioning, and for better stress management. A healthy eating plan is necessary to make sure toxins come out and stay out. With a little bit of restraint and a few changes in your dietary lifestyle, your detox regimen will pay off in the long run. If these toxins continue to go in to your body and stay there, your two most vital organs, the liver and kidneys, will suffer. Your liver processes 100 gallons (378.54 liters) of blood every day, removing heavy toxins that enter your body from processed foods, water and air.

Choosing the Right Detox

The right detoxification method is not as simple as doing the first that you come across. A common misconception about cleansing diet is not to eat anything at all, drink lots of water or un-flavoured liquid during the day. Short term cleanses are not always the best outcome or a great idea. As most toxins accumulate in your body they than become fat cells. This is the process when the liver takes on the job to metabolize these toxins to transform them into water-solubles to remove them from the body via stool, urine and sweat. Actually, sweating is healthy, it has many health benefits including detoxification. Sweating improves blood circulation, it also kills bacteria and improves skin tone.

The problem starts by using the wrong detox. With a harsh or severe detox plan it will remove these toxins too quickly where the liver becomes overloaded and is unable to dissolve these toxins. Therefor, the toxins are not discharged the normal way and finish up in the bloodstream, which can trigger all sorts of illness to any of the vital organs. This is not advisable because it simply starves the body of essential nutrients. Once that plan has completed most people go back to the old habits and lifestyle as before. The same result: You are back where you started from, gained a few extra pound or kilo's of weight; for some people (women especially) this is an unacceptable situation. So it is a must during a detox to choose an effective and healthy eating plan. The tips below will help with different options.

Change your Meals to Smaller Portions

Eat less but eat more often. If you are accustomed to three meals a day, break down your eating plan. Schedule into five or six meals daily. This does not mean that you will take in more food, though. Make each meal a light one composed of vegetarian fare, plus a serving or two of carb-laden entrees (whole wheat bread and pasta are perfect). The reason you should eat more often is to help you stave off those hunger pangs. Going hungry because a plan calls for it isn't good: It simply places an additional challenge for you not to break from your regimen, but finally give in to cravings. Space those small meals to cover your waking hours and keep you satiated. This way, your unhealthy urges are easily overcome.

Flushing out toxins: How much water should we drink? It is important to up water intake to complement your new eating strategy. It is imperative that you meet your daily water needs: Body thirst is easily mistaken for hunger. Keep both in check. In addition, water also plays a major role in flushing out those toxins. To get the best results out of your healthy eating plan drink lots of water. It is also important to note, drink the water in between meals and not during the meal. Being on a detox diet as such this is the reason to have more water over this time only. However, being told to drink 2 liters or 8 to 10 glasses of water every day, regardless if your body needs it or not, is a completely misguided approach. Once your body has lost its liquid content it will signal its need by making you feel thirsty; drink plenty of water than. Continually drinking too much water lowers sodium levels in blood, and can cause cell swelling.

Choose Quality Over Quantity

Emphasize quality over quantity in your food choices. Instead of trying to load up on stuff which, while satisfying, is just empty calories. Fill up mainly on vegetables and fruit. If you are more of a meat lover have less red meat and more of the white meat like chicken and fish. The greater portions should come from vegetables and fruits in your diet. While most veggies and fruit be eaten right of the farm, you don't have to consume them raw every time. A lot of trendy dishes make use of all-veggie ingredients. You will find that plenty of superb recipes call for steamed or grilled vegetables. You can also use a quality supplement that has different fruits and/or vegetables in a liquid form for extra nutrients to help rebuild your body. Keep it natural, simple, stay on track, and focus on the goal. The most important step to a perfect detox is the change to a healthy diet.

Lose Weight Fast: Do Detox Diets Work?

What is a detox diet?

‘Detox’ (short for detoxification) diets are touted as as a way to lose weight fast, and they work by eliminating toxins from the body.

There are many different types of detox diets but they typically start off with a ‘cleansing phase’, which is around two to three days of fasting. This is usually followed by a strict diet of vegetables, fruit or fruit juices, and water.

Does the body need detoxification to lose weight fast?

Advocates of detox diets say that our bodies are certainly in need of detoxification because they are constantly overloaded with toxins from pollution, cigarette smoke, alcohol and processed foods. It is believed that such toxin buildups will lead to weight gain, fatigue and dull skin, thus a detox diet is required to restrict food intake and lose weight fast.

On the other hand, however, some believe that there is no evidence to prove that detox diets can help one to lose weight. There is actually no need for detox diets, unless you are constantly exposed to high amounts of heavy metals or radiation. The body’s circulatory, respiratory, urinary and digestive systems are perfectly capable of cleaning itself.

Benefits of detox diets

Although there’s little evidence that detox diets can help one to lose weight fast, some people feel more focused and energetic during and after detox diets. Besides this, some also experience a decrease in food cravings as the high-sugar and high-fat foods which they avoid during detox diets, had been responsible for stimulating food cravings.

Other benefits that detox dieters experience include a stronger immune system, clearer skin and shinier hair.

Possible dangers of detox diets

Some detox dieters do lose weight fast, but because they drop their calories so dramatically, their body will think that they are starving. Hence, their metabolic rate and hence fat-burning will slow down substantially. Besides, a majority of their weight loss comes from water loss and muscle tissue loss. The loss of muscle tissues again leads to slower metabolism. Thus, the weight lost will eventually come back very quickly.

Detox diets also severely limit protein and other important nutrients; and this can result in fatigue. Long-term fasting can also cause vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Other possible side-effects of detox diets include cramping, bloating, dehydration, nausea and vomiting

How to Detox at Home to Lose Weight

Combining detoxification and weight loss is a smart way to clean out the body, get healthier and lose unwanted pounds. At home detoxification programs can be accomplished in a few ways. Since most toxins and chemicals are stored in the fatty deposits of the body, when a person loses fat, these impurities enter the body. While the body is self-cleaning, sometimes extra help is necessary to remove all the accumulated wastes. With minor changes to your lifestyle, you can lose weight and detoxify the body.

    Tips For You

    1. Exercise regularly. All doctors recommend exercising a few times a week to improve overall health. Aerobic exercise like running, walking or dancing all burn fat and this leads to weight loss. But aerobic exercise also detoxifies the body. As the heart pumps faster, circulation increases. More blood moves throughout the body and carries oxygen rich nutrients. The lymph fluids also increase in circulation and remove toxins from the body. If you build up a good sweat, harmful materials are secreted through the pores. The deep breathing done while exercising releases carbon dioxide from the body through exhalation.
    2. Try a fast. A fast is an excellent way to give the digestive system a rest. By not eating food for a day or so, the body can use its energy reserves to focus on self-healing. During a fast only liquids like water, fruit juices and herbal teas are taken. A fast not only cleans out the body, but it also can help you to lose weight even though your metabolism slows down when food is not digested on a regular basis.
    3. Eat small meals of organic foods. Much of the toxins in our bodies come from the food we eat. Food has harmful substances like preservatives, pesticides, nitrates, synthetic substances and food dyes. Organic food uses far less of these harmful materials, so by eating more natural foods you reduce the amount of toxins that enter your body. Eating small meals increases your metabolic rate so the food is digested faster.
    4. Drink lots of fluids to detoxify the kidneys. The kidneys remove wastes from the bloodstream. This organ filters blood and sends all debris, wastes and toxins to the bladder.
